Spotlight Speakers

Pernille Ripp

Pernille’s work and thoughts have been included in multiple influential education books published in the last few years. She continues to teach, constantly trying to forward the educational journey of students in her district, and implementing all of the ideas she presents. In 2010, she created The Global Read Aloud, a global literacy initiative that since then has connected more than 1,000,000 students on 6 continents. Her work has been featured by Edutopia, School Library Journal, The Guardian, MiddleWeb. She is a Skype Master Teacher, as well as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. She is the WEMTA Making IT Happen award recipient for 2015, as well as the 2015 ISTE Award for Innovation in Global Collaboration Award recipient. Follow her on Twitter @pernilleripp.

Laura Garmire

Laura is the eLearning Training Specialist for the Indiana Online Academy (IOA) through the Central Indiana Educational Service Center (CIESC). She designs and delivers professional learning opportunities for educators throughout the state. Laura has been a classroom teacher and an eLearning Specialist for over 25 years. Laura is a teacher ambassador for PBS Learning Media, a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2 along with being a Google for Apps Certified Trainer. Nicholas Provenzano

Nicholas Provenzano is a high school English teacher and an education blogger. He writes on his website,,, the ISTE blog, as well as many other prominent educational websites. He has been featured on, The New York Times, Consumer Report, and many other media outlets. In 2013, he was awarded the Technology Teacher of the Year by MACUL and ISTE. Nicholas is Google Certified Innovator, a TEDEd Innovative Educator, Gates Foundation Community Advisory Committee Member, and Evernote Education Ambassador. Two Techie Teachers

2 Techie Teachers, Tiffany Copple and Brittany Banister, are long time friends and colleagues at Scott County School District 2 in Southern Indiana. Together they love sharing their passion for student-centered, creation-based tech integration in the classroom. The Techie Teachers enjoy presenting at the local, state, and national level as well as moderating the #INeLearn Chat’s classroom strand every fourth Thursday. They also enjoy co-writing their blog 2TechieTeachers where they share useful classroom technology tips and their philosophy of digital-age teaching with their audience.
